  • About Lannie & Barlow

Lannie and I met when I was finishing my film degree at Chapman University, in Orange, CA. We each have a passion for creative imagery, both still and moving. We feel we are incredibly fortunate to not only work together, but to do what we love and meet incredible people along the way!
We have three amazing girls--Kaija (10), Irelyn (8) and Emerson (5). Oh, and can't forget our two dogs, Joey (Sheltie) and Dewey! (Yorkie)
Family life is crazy, and we love every minute of it. We love trips to Disneyland, building sand castles, campin' out in the theatre room watching a movie together, or anything that involves the great outdoors.

Pop Goes The Question!

Something rather amazing about being a videographer in Utah is that you can basically hide in plain sight in some places. In this case, Temple Square in Salt Lake City was the ideal location for a covert proposal video operation. My friend Ken and I were stationed with our cameras down right in front of the reflecting pool, but as soon as the couple showed up, we were just pretending to be filming something else until the moment of truth!

Just minutes before Shawn proposed, I met him in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and mic’d him up. He then went on a walk with Emily around temple square, and eventually sat down about 25-30 ft away from our little film crew.

It was funny to listen to Shawn as they were strolling around talk about photographers and videographers around the temple at night…basically pointing us out! I just kept my baseball cap low and pretended to be filming other things until he gave me the cue for the big moment.

Amazing how “in the moment” Emily was. She really didn’t have a clue. I don’t think she realized she had a bright light and some weird video guy filming them for maybe a minute after “the question.” Other co-conspirators were both Shawn and Emily’s awesome parents, as well as Shawn’s sister. I gave them a call on the cell to come out from hiding as soon as the moment was near.

Note : audio is distorted in places because they couldn’t stop hugging, thus overwhelming and smothering the wireless microphone. I thought it was kinda funny so I kept it in because the continuous moment is pretty awesome.

And here it is…
